Achieving our long-term goals and ambitions

At Standard Chartered, we've prepared annual Environment and Corporate Responsibility reviews since 2001.

In 2007 we published our second Sustainability Review, along with our strategy for building a sustainable business. This will guide our work for the next three years and give us a reference point for measuring and reporting success.

Our 2007 Sustainability Review reflects the evolution of Standard Chartered's corporate responsibility programmes into sustainable business practices. We also prepare specific reports that focus on our key priorities. For example, in 2007 we produced a report on Sustainable Lending and the Equator Principles.

Reporting on our performance is an important way to demonstrate that sustainable development is integrated throughout our business. Alongside our annual performance reports, we set out our priorities for the year to come, and we use these to measure our progress.

We align our reporting with recommendations made by the Global Reporting Initiative. We also issue a Communication on Progress in line with the UN Global Compact.

UN Global Compact

UN Global CompactStandard Chartered upholds the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact, and ensures that these principles are central to our lending and procurement decisions in addition to how we treat our staff and customers.
